Orange Peel
Cellulite is a skin condition that affects the thighs, buttocks, and hips. It also goes by another name, which is called “Orange peel.”
You may have heard the term “orange peel syndrome” in your research of cellulite. It’s a term that is used loosely by insiders who report the latest cellulite research and information. Basically, the thought behind orange peel is that cellulite resembles that of a bumpy orange. Take a look at the photo below.

As stated in other sections of this website cellulite, or orange peel as we’ll call it here, affects up to 90% of women and some men. Cellulite forms on the skin when fibrous bands develop connecting the skin to the muscles under the surface. The architecture of connective tissue becomes misaligned, and the lack of proper blood circulation and abnormal water metabolism leads to fat, fluid, and toxins that get trapped between these bands of fibrous tissue. These bands then become tight and hard, which compresses the fat and gives it the ‘dimpling effect’.
So, if you are looking around the web for information on cellulite, or just perusing through the cellulite cream review websites out there, don’t be surprised if you hear the term “orange peel.” It may not be as well known as cellulite, but essentially it is the same thing.
Thanks for reading, and I hope I provided a clear definition of orange peel.
